This off-the-beaten-path restaurant is not one you’d find in any Cape Town guide, which makes it all the more exclusive. Run by resident surfers, Seven 8 Three “the place to be” is the cool hangout for locals before and after surf. Located in the center of Kommetjie just minutes from Kommetjie Beach, this restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a very casual atmosphere. In fact, you would be overdressed if you wore closed-toe shoes.

Having had several breakfasts here, we decided to try it out for dinner. The Calamari Salad was a great choice for R65 (US$6.50), be sure to order extra calamari because they are exceptional. It was a quiet evening and we had the entire patio to ourselves, perfect for a romantic evening. Great service – they were extremely attentive and friendly.
